Plastic, an ubiquitous hyperobject, is nomadic form and substance enmeshed in one.
Due to its transformative nature it’s able to navigate through different passages, through
entangled levels of a complex conglomerate matrix. Invisible microplastics, shifting from tangible
to intangible, are cross kinds mixtures of permeable virtual configurations – slippery hyperobjects.

To materialize this entanglement, a world of pseudo plasti-bacteria has been created melting
upcycled leftovers of commodity plastics, gathered per type of polymers (PET, PP, HDPE, PP etc.)
shredded and molded with a DIY injector (with BackBO – Circular economy lab).
In the current development these props have been 3D scanned to design immersive realities.

The choice of a zoomorphic characterization of micro plastics is an attempt to feel the proximity
with the issue, but highlighting an extreme form of interspecies mutualism already happening on a
global scale (micro plastics inhabiting human body and conglomerate inhabited by bacteria)

The animation is also inspired by a bathymetric model of the Venice Lagoon and its tidal channels.
